Arwen began swim lessons on Wednesday, and I am amazed by the amount of progress she has already made with only two lessons under her belt.
Rob and I had been working with Arwen all of last month trying to get her more comfortable in the water. She had resisted all of our attempts to teach her to swim and rarely let us take her further than the pool steps or ocean shorebreak. We were pretty sure these first few lessons would be disastrous, but we ended up first stunned and then beaming with pride as Arwen did great. She even put her head in the water! When she said she was ready for swim lessons, she wasn't kidding.
Arwen loves her instructor, Uncle Torren, and we were extremely impressed with the Leahi Swim School staff and facility (Manoa location uses St. Francis School's pool.)
Rob shot some video while I took a few pictures to commemorate this special event.
Arwen's preschool friend, Katie, joined her swim class today, so we had twice the fun!
I shot some video from this lesson that I'll post later.
Unlike many of her friends, Arwen was not born a fish, but hopefully Leahi Swim School will help her become one. So far, so good.
